Finding life within the Solar System

It is almost for sure that the Earth is the only place within our Solar system which sustains intelligent life, more advanced or the current level of intellegence of human beings. This may be speculated due to the fact that no signs, such as signals, spacecrafts, radio waves or anything of such sort have been detected.

However, it is still possible that the life within the Solar system exists.

The most probable places which may sustain life and host alien life in the Solar system according to the perception that such forms need water (oceans), tectonics and atmosphere, are:

1. Clouds of Venus. There is atmosphere, so some form of life might be possible.

2. Mars. Has ice caps. Moreover, had oceans and atmosphere in the past, so some form of life may existed or still does in the underground lakes.

Jupiter’s moons:

3.Europa. 6th Jupiter’s moon. Has large salty underground ocean twice bigger than the earth’s. Has ten times more oxygen and hydrogen than the Earth.

4. Ganymede. 7th Jupiter’s moon. The biggest moon in the Solar system, has a thin oxygen atmosphere and the only solar system’s moon with its own magnetic field. However, the possible life may exist only under the surface, in a large underground ocean, which is up to 60 miles deep and 10 times deeper than the Earth has.

Saturn’s moons:

5.Enceladus.. 2nd Saturn’s moon. Covered with ice, has not only the underground ocean but also hydrothermal activity at its seabeds. Such type of environment is teeming with life on the Earth.

6.Titan. The only place in the Solar system apart from the Earth where life may exist on the surface. It has a thick atmosphete and lakes of methane. So life there would look much different from the one on the Earth, however, is still possible . Looks pretty similar to the Earth in its early years.

7.Possible internal ocean of Pluto.

Why to search for life, even if it is not such advanced as on the Earth?

● May provide us with better understanding of our origin and/or future destiny

● May still host some intellegent life forms on their early stages of development

● May host life forms which will benefit humanity, such as give us clues to treating some diseases.

● Although there are numerous exoplanets which may host simple or even intelligent forms of life with the current level of technology humans are not currently able to reach then, so the only hope to find life within our lifetime is to search all the possible places for it within our Solar system.
